A vision board is a powerful tool that helps you focus on what you want to achieve—whether it's in school, sports, friendships, personal growth, or hobbies. It's a visual representation of your dreams.

The Firehouse Dream is partnering with Maywood Homeland Security to host CPR training for Proviso community members seeking certification. Please make sure you can attend the full workshop when you RSVP to get certified, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. TFD will provide light snacks.

Yekseny is leading another inspiring workshop for our Proviso community! This session will focus on creating meaningful Memory Bracelets, designed to honor loved ones who have passed or celebrate cherished relationships with those still in our lives. Join us for a heartfelt and memorable experience as we craft bracelets that embody love and remembrance.

The Firehouse Dream believes in the power of our lived experiences and desires to normalize the topic of mental health. We believe everyone in the community should find self-care in what they enjoy. We hope through this workshop, art becomes one of them!

Dana Harris of I Paint on Purpose motivates and guides participants through meaningful paintings. Dana believes in an approach that gives students positive, constructive ways to learn. Paint on purpose provides participants with the right balance of personalized attention, patience, practical training, and positive encouragement to boost confidence. In this session, we will be painting Cacti to symbolize thriving and endurance in even the direst conditions.

Discover Your Body's Wisdom: Intro to Somatic Movement

Feeling stressed? Stuck in your head? This workshop will teach you fun, easy ways to tune into your body and feel better fast. Learn techniques to release tension, boost your mood, and find your natural flow. No experience needed – just bring comfy clothes and an open mind!

Yekseny Guerro is leading an artistic expression workshop for members of  our community here in Proviso! This workshop will focus on self-perception and the power of intuition, aiming to enhance self-esteem and confidence through creative art. Participants will engage in making identity collages, which will help explore feelings and foster a positive self-image. Yekseny is excited to guide our community in discovering their unique identities through the joy of art via a collage. 

Please note that this workshop is intended for teens (13+) through adults.

Dasia is a Proviso resident who has led multiple yoga sessions throughout our community. This session will be in the evening rather than our Saturday morning sessions. Please feel free to share with others and bring a friend. Yoga mats and journals will be provided, but you can bring your own.

The HAP (Hospice and Palliative) Foundation’s very own Kaitlyn Macias will lead the students through a an extension of the grief workshop that was hosted on October 3rd. This time, students will practice coping with grief through a positive art project.

Yekseny Guerrero is leading Proviso community members through an artistic expression workshop! Recognizing how one may see oneself in their mind. Goals can include trusting intuition and boosting self-esteem/confidence through artistic exploration, reducing feelings of shame, and positive self-esteem Through clay, Yekseny plans on teaching participants how to achieve this through clay expression.

The HAP (Hospice and Palliative) Foundation’s very own Kaitlyn Macias will lead the students through a grief workshop. Students will learn the grief cycle and the signs/symptoms of grief. After learning an introduction to grief as an emotional response. Students will end their education by learning how to cope with grief.

This is the first workshop of the grief series. The second workshop will resume October 17th.

The Firehouse Dream and PMSA’s Mental Health Club will be starting up for the 24/25 School Year on September 19th! TFD staff will discuss with students some workshops they would like to see happen over the school year! We will also do check-ins with those who were club members last year. Stop by Ms. Gart’s classroom after school from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM to learn more about TFD and Mental Health Club!

Join our support group for parents and caregivers who have teens and young adults struggling with their mental health. TFD will be facilitating a space for parents and caregivers to not feel alone as they support their teen/young adult. The sessions are completely free for Proviso parents and residents!

Hey neighbors! On June 5th, we are hosting an art convening for the art projects submitted to represent black and brown solidarity. Youth will perform spoken word and premiere the documentary they filmed. Join us for creativity, conversation, and culture. We hope to see you there!

Jasmine, ED of The Firehouse Dream, will discuss raising financially aware children at the 3rd annual Latinos Homeschooling Conference. Check out this link for more information and to register!

TFD and Mental Health Club have had some amazing workshops over the school year. TFD Team will reflect with students what they learned from our workshops and how they will continue over the summer. Students are welcome to share any ideas they would like to implement in the coming school year. Come join us for snacks and reflection from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM in Ms. Garts classroom, Room 213.

We are bringing our yoga flow to PMSA! At PMSA’s mental health club, Dasia of Daisy Flow Yoga will lead the students through beginner yoga poses to help relax them for the evening. Yoga will start at 3:30 and end at 4:30 in Ms. Gart’s classroom, room 213.

This workshop will be focused on the reality of identity changes during high school. It can be representative but frustrating due to all the expectations placed on us. Sarah of Yo Soy Ella will lead the students to cope with all the identity changes through the teenage years. The workshop will be held after school, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM in Ms. Gart’s classroom, Room 213.

This art project will be centered around what self-care looks like for students. Students will work with Jessica, our Program Coordinator. Conversation will be suggestions on what students can do for health care and what they do currently. As always, we will be at PMSA’s very own Mental Health Club, Room 213 with Ms. Gart from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM!

Jasmine Lopez is our Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Firehouse Dream, CEO of Mentally Mutual, and most importantly, a community member. Jasmine says she has always been a dreamer. Over time, she has taught herself to reframe her thoughts to achieve “limitless dreaming”. Jasmine will share with the students how to use creative provision, using resources around them and faith that one day they will receive what they wish for.

Jasmine Lopez is our Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Firehouse Dream, CEO of Mentally Mutual, and most importantly, a community member. For this workshop, Jasmine will be sharing the importance of storytelling! Everyone has a story, and it can be communicated in many different ways. Jasmine will teach the students some strategies on how to tell your story well, in the most impactful and authentic way.

This event will be at PMSA’s very own Mental Health Club, room 213 with Ms. Gart!

Remona Sanders is the Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit, INellas Restoration Center here in Maywood. For this workshop, students will focus on building the capacity to hold space and values for their boundaries. Remona will educate the students on the importance of boundaries, and how they can use them to benefit their mental health.

He is passionate about mental health and sharing how others can be more competent towards others struggling with mental health. For this workshop, Chris will lead participants through the stigma against people expressing their mental health and why it is important to be vulnerable with others

This event will be at PMSA’s very own Mental Health Club, Room 213 with Ms. Gart!
