The Quinn Center

Our mentees were able to experience taking pictures at the Quinn Center here in Maywood. They took pictures of the kids at the Quinn Center’s annual summer camp and they were able to put into practice what they had been learning from previous workshops. We got tons of great content that showcased their new photography skills!

We are grateful to have collaborated with the Quinn Center!

Group Project Mentee Headshots

During our summer mentorship we were able to really dig in deep in learning how to take headshots! They were divided up into groups and had the opportunity to creatively photograph one another! Our Executive Director Jasmine Lopez led this workshop and taught the mentees how to direct people during a photo shoot.

Thank you Jasmine!

Maywoodian Families

Hello! We are a group of Firehouse Mentees trying to share the stories of families in Maywood. We wanted to share the faces of our community and show the diverse stories that make up Maywood. We also wanted to spotlight the experiences and opportunities that the Maywood community has brought for each of the families. We are excited to present these unique stories and we hope you enjoy learning more about your neighbors and the history of this great community! Thank you to all the families who shared their stories with us, we couldn’t have done it without you!

How long have you lived in Maywood?:

Since 2000. My husband was born and raised here.

What are you loving about Maywood?:

My Son attended the same neighborhood school his Dad did. He was able to walk to the neighborhood school and have friends in his neighborhood.

Change and progression. Clean blocks, safe environment for my Son to navigate through without me being worried. To mention Maywood with pride as there is so much rich history here.
